FEATI University Graduation Day and College of Maritime Education Recognition Rites

FEATI University celebrates two hot-ticket events in honor of its graduating students on April 24, 2013 at Summit Hall C and D of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).

The first, starting at 8:00AM, is the University’s Commencement Exercises with the theme, Scholarship:  Meeting the Challenge of a Changing World and will have as Commencement Speaker, Dr. Filemon A. Uriarte Jr., Academician of the National Academy of Science and Technology of the Department of Science and Technology and a former Cabinet Secretary of Science and Technology. Dr. Uriarte has a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University and B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of the Philippines. Dr. Uriarte’s has a wide experience in education, industry, government and international linkages and institutions.

In the afternoon, at 3:00PM, Marine Transportation and Marine Engineering Senior Cadets of the University’s College of Maritime Education (CME) will converge at Summit Hall C and D for the second CME Recognition Rites bannered by the theme, FEATI.Maritime: Highest Technology. Best Maritime Programs. Excellent Graduates. This event was especially put together for the College’s cadets who have successfully completed the academic requirements for their respective bachelor’s degrees. Poised to embark on a year-long shipboard exposure, they generally get hired soon after their shipboard training, reducing their chances of marching on their own graduation day.

The University sees to it that the cadets get their share of recognition in their merchant marine whites before they literally “ship out”. Guest of Honor and Speaker for the afternoon event is Capt. Amado L. Castro, Jr., alumnus of FEATI Maritime Batch 1971 who subsequently topped the Board Exams for Master Mariners in the late 70’s. He is currently the president of Reinier Pacific International Shipping, Inc., a position he has held since 1990. Also invited to the event are FEATI Maritime Industry Partners who shall be meeting with the cadets and their parents to initiate the cadets into a rewarding career in the industry.

The entire FEATI University community, as well as the parents and guardians are looking forward to an enthusiastic and optimistic send off for hundreds of its cadets and graduates. Congratulations to Batch 2013 for crossing the finish line! (AMD)
