FEATI University recently celebrated Aero Festival Week, giving students from various campuses the opportunity to converge and participate in a series of technical seminars offered during the week as follows:

A highlight of the week was the seminar on "Techniques in Aviation Research and Scientific Writing” by guest speaker Menchita F. Dumlao, PhD, Dean of PHILSCA College of Engineering. Aside from technical seminars, students were treated to exhibits from Lufthansa Technical Training Philippines and Alpha Aviation Group. Visiting FEATI University for the first time were AMT and Aeronautical Engineering students from Holy Angel University and University of Perpetual Help System of Las Piñas.
"The fees of all the seminars were waived by the FEATI Professional Schools. We also made this open to other aviation schools and their students because after all, we belong to one industry and thus share the same goal of advancing aviation in the Philippines," says Dr. Jay-R D. Basitao, Chairman of the Aeronautical Engineering and AMT Department of FEATI University.
The organizers of the Aero Festival week made sure that the emphasis was on the importance of pursuing research in addition to choosing a career leading to gainful employment. Developmental research opportunities in Design, Aircraft Maintenance, Airline Management, Aviation Education, and the aviation business in general provide a wide berth for students of aeronautics and aviation to delve into research. "One can work as a Research Scholar, Senior Operations Research Analyst, Aviation Fuel Efficiency Consultant, Simulation Designer and Analyst,” according to Dr. Dumlao. She adds, "A university such as FEATI with a history of excellence in Aeronautics and with its current Accreditation efforts should pursue research and strive as a community to publish papers". She concludes, "It is far better to be published in internationally-known and respected publications in pursuit of professional and financial advancement in the field. Another perk is that one can pursue higher education while getting paid".
