FEATI double celebration set for April 20, 2012 at the PICC

FEATI University gets ready to confer degrees on its graduates at the 2012 Commencement Exercises, and send off College of Maritime Education third-year cadets at the College Recognition Rites and Ring Hop Ceremony. Event date is on April 20, 2012 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC). University officials, faculty members, staff, parents and special guests shall be in attendance at these important events.
The theme of the graduation ceremony is “Integrity: FEATINIAN’s Anchor to Success”. Integrity pertains to a person’s wholeness, completeness, or soundness and forms the firm foundation for a person’s career.  Integrity is at the top of a FEATINIAN’s core values, the others being scholarship, accountability, equality, and patriotism.  Guest of Honor and Speaker of the Commencement Exercises is Engr. Camilo M. Tabalba, FEATI University Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering 1959 magna cum laude graduate who has more than forty years of experience in Electronics, Telecommunications and Information and Computer Technology with Nortel Networks in the UK and in Canada. Engr. Tabalba has a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from London University, is a Chartered Engineer of the UK and Professional Electrical Engineer of the Philippines.  He now resides in Canada and is making the trip home just for the event.

In the afternoon, the College of Maritime Education will hold the Recognition Rites and Ring Hop Ceremony principally to send off the College’s third-year cadets to their shipboard training. The theme of this event is “FEATI and Industry Partners: Steering You Beyond The Horizon!” This landmark event is more meaningful due to the valuable support of the university’s maritime industry partners who have generously agreed to orient the cadets before they go on the year-long shipboard training that will allow them to earn their bachelors degrees. Fifteen industry partners and their executives are expected to grace the event namely, Marlow Navigation Philippines, Inc.; Anglo-Eastern Crew Management Philippines, Inc.; Multinational Maritime Inc.; MMS Maritime Services, Inc.; Abosta Shipmanagement Corporation; Trans Star Shipping Agency Corporation; Wallem Maritime Services, Inc.; TSM Shipping (Philippines) Inc.; Pos Fil Shipmanagement Corporation; Klaveness Maritime Agency, Inc.; Bibby Ship Management Philippines, Inc.; MST Marine Services Philippines Inc.; Wilhelmsen-Smith Bell Manning, Inc.; JO Tankers (Philippines) Inc.; and Grace Marine & Shipping Corporation.

Guest of Honor and Keynote Speaker for the Recognition Rites is Capt. Leopoldo Tenorio, FEATI Maritime 1973 alumnus and current CEO of Operations of Marlow Navigation. The Rites will be followed by a Ring Hop Ceremony between cadets and their parents or guardians. The Ring Hop is an established CME tradition involving the transfer of rings to the cadets from their parents symbolizing reciprocal commitment and grateful appreciation for all the love and sacrifice towards a successful maritime career backed by quality education.
