FEATI COMMUNITY DONATES TO KALIBO, AKLAN

The faculty and employees of FEATI University pooled together a fund of PhP 12,000 to assist the town of Kalibo, Aklan in recovering from the ravages of Typhoon Frank. The donation was personally handed over by Mr. Cesar F. Domingo, FEATI Deputy to the Vice President for Academic Affairs on October 10, 2008 to Atty. Allen S. Quimpo, of the Aklan Disaster Coordinating Council. Kalibo was one of several towns on Panay Island that suffered severely due to Frank in June 2008. The whole town was under several feet of floodwater for days after Frank’s passage and mud remained in the streets and even inside buildings after the water receded. The damage was valued at over PhP 2 billion, not to mention the disturbance and interruption of business activities due to the need for mud removal and cleaning operations. Atty. Allen S. Quimpo, who is also President of Northwestern Visayan Colleges (NVC) in Kalibo, expressed his appreciation for the modest donation on behalf of the province of Aklan. In early August, FEATI University also donated two (2) sets of personal desk top computers to the NVC Registrar’s office whose computers and office equipment were damaged by the mud and floodwaters. NVC is a partner school of FEATI University. (CFD)
