IT FACULTY MEMBER’S “COLORFUL” IS “ARTWORK OF THE YEAR 2008” AT FIRST eCON AWARDS

“Colorful” by Gary Andrew Lacanilao of the FEATI IT Department was hailed “Artwork of the Year 2008” at the eCon Awards 2008 for Animation, Artwork, Game and Broadcast of the Year. Held for the first time, this annual contest was sponsored by PowerPoint Heaven, an entertainment portal for PowerPoint-based animation, games, artwork, shows, templates and tutorials.
“Colorful”, which features four ladies on a vibrant background, garnered 80 out of 190 votes, while the second placer got 37. Also known as “Radz” to his colleagues, Gary Lacanilao specializes in using PowerPoint 2007 to make life-like human characters |
| and to design logos, making use of the software’s new graphics engine, shape effects and advanced features.
IT specialists from the US, Singapore, Australia, South Korea, India, Portugal, Dominican Republic, Dubai and the Philippines competed in the event, with two Filipino winners: FEATI’s Gary Andrew Lacanilao and Jeremiah “Jerry” Lee, a BA student, who was hailed “Contributor of the Year”.
